Project Description
Electrochemical techniques allow for the tuning of interfacial properties in a highly defined manner without changing the bulk solution. Hence, interaction forces and ion distributions at the interface of electrodes can be altered practically instantaneously. We use surface modified electrodes in combination with direct force measurement techniques to examine effects like charge regulation, ion adsorption, and adhesion. Based on these studies we pursue various applications, like new imaging modes, high-resolution force measurements and micromanipulation.
